Florida Fun

Out of all our adventures so far this summer I have to say the look on Peanut and Sprout faces when we arrived at Disney World was the best!

We thought we would share details of our stay in Florida and answer the FAQ we get on insta and comments so here is everything we did!
Where we stayed

We stayed at an amazing villa in Orlando,FL that we found on HomeAway.comWe spent little over a week there and enjoyed ever second of it. The villa was bout a 15 minute drive to the amusement park. There's nothing wrong with the Disney Resorts it just wasn't the best option for my family since we had about 15 people going we needed space but also wanted to be nearby each other.  The villa was also a lot cheaper for us it cost us about $200 per household for a week stay, can't beat that!! The villa had 7 rooms, 4 bathrooms (2 private), a full kitchen, movie theater and the best part was, it had a pool and a hot tub! Overall it was nice to have our own space, which is what I love about HomeAway.

How we got around

There is some much to see and do in Orlando, FL. Majority of our time was spent at the Disney amusement park but we also spent a day at Legoland which is about an hour drive from our villa.  So we rented a mini van, which was perfect. I would definitely recommend it. The freedom of a rental car is so nice. Our Villa was 30 minutes away from the airport and 15 minutes away from Disney World, the grocery store was 5 minutes away in a shopping center with restaurants, souvenir shops and ATMs.  Overall our villa was a great location because it was central enough to be able to get to most of places easily and quickly by car.

What we did

I definitely recommend booking any dinners, shows, or attractions you want to see as soon as possible. Disney offers you the option to book these things at least 6 months in advance, which is wise because spaces fill up quickly! Since it was Peanut and her cousin birthdays we wanted them to experience "Dining with the Princess" which is a experience I know Peanut will never forget. We literally got our reservations by the skin of our teeth because someone cancelled and we booked 6 months in advance.  Legoland was a BLAST! It was 100F that day so majority of our time was spent in the water park. But there is so much too do water park, roller coasters oo and the pirate show is highly recommended.
It was one of those things that we’ll always remember.

Lamp Makeover For Under $10

So the time has come for us to move out of our tiny cramped two bedroom apartment and into our not so tiny three bedroom house. YAY! There's just so much decorating, that I'm beyond thrilled and bursting at the seams from excitement. Anyway I'm currently pacing myself and my first tackle is the Master Bedroom, now there is just so much to do but for some reason lamps was my top priority.

A few months ago, I found a pair of hideous pink 'PLEASE SAVE ME' lamps while Goodwill hunting. . . only costed me $4.00.

At the time our apartment didn't need anymore light fixtures but for $4.00 how could I say no right?! Moving into our new place was the perfect opportunity to pull these bad boys out and bring them back to life.

Since the lamps are glass there was literally NO cleaning involved besides your basic 'spit & shine' (glass-cleaner). I thought I would have a problem with removing the ribbon around the base, but since it was so old the glue just sort of crumbled as I pulled it off. So I just wiped them down and it was time to paint.

I must say that these are the perfect lamps for spray paint! I used Krylon- Metallic Silver Spray Paint Mr.B of course had to give me a pre-lecture of spraying too hard and making the paint run.. . .Blah!Blah!Blah! I used light consistent slow sprays until I covered them completely. It took me about 2-3 coats {I'm sure I over-did it, but hey I like full coverage}.

I loooooove how my lamps turned out.I found the lampshades at Ross on clearance for $6.00. Not bad for a Goodwill haul! Best part is I have 2 amazing bedside lamps for $10 total {Spray paint was not included in total price since it was from our spray stash}.

One project down. . . A zillion more to go
I can't wait to show you more progress as we complete one room at a time!

First Birthday Party + More

My Sprout is officially 1! She is in love with paint so we decided to celebrate with an Art Birthday Party.

Here's a little recap from our busy weekend (last week):

Sprout turned 1, and we celebrated with some of or close friends and family. I started my morning off like a chicken with it's head cut off, I had so many errands to run, pick up the balloons, make the cake, set-up. . . and party time started at noon. We did manage to wake her up with a balloon party in her crib, which she absolutely loved!

We had about 19 of her friends over. Guests were greeted by my uncle putting up the balloon arch and streamers . Beyond the balloons, they entered the “art studio” (dining room).

Once everyone arrived, the painting began. We basically let the kid's "free-style" and just paint whatever their little hearts desired.
Some of the art work drying, the kids really had a ball and did an awesome job on their creations.
Since Sprout was only turning 1 we kept things simple, we served hot dogs, chicken fingers, and french fries. The cake and icing were both made from scratch with a simple "1" (can you tell I ran out of time) haha!

Peanut requested a layered rainbow cake at her birthday party. . .  Hopefully I'm up to the task.
Sprout birthday party was that Saturday and that following Sunday, Peanut and I had the pleasure of attending an amazing Princess Skate Birthday Party.
She's obsessed with these hello kitty glasses.

I didn't get to take that many pictures but here is a few of the details:

The cake was literally the cutest thing ever! Peanut was beyond excited because Princess Elsa left her ice castle to make an appearance at her friend's birthday party.
The goodie bags were full of princess rings, princess stickers, princess tattoos, a princess crown, candy and princess cup.

Overall we had an awesome time.

I promise to update on a regular
xoxo,
